White And Coral

We are in store for some Spring weather here in Indiana today.  I am so excited for it because that means Summer is on the way!  I know so many people who love Fall, but Summer is my favorite season.  It has been ever since I was a little girl.  Even though I have horrendous hot flashes, I am still loyal to my favorite season.

Now, let’s talk about today’s outfit.  I am wearing a white lace sweater that has a built-in tank.  This sweater is not as thin as it may appear making it perfect for a Spring day.  I am also wearing light coral colored jeans that I got from the Gap.

I know nude colored shoes are everywhere right now, but I decided to do something different.  I just love the shape of these cute white sandals.

I didn’t get a close up of my jewelry, but I am wearing a Cameo necklace.  Does anybody wear Cameo jewelry anymore?  I can remember many years ago that being a style my Grandmother liked.   My mother-in-law bought me this one years ago after a trip to Italy.  She took my son there last year, and I love Italian food.   Maybe I will get to go there too one day.   For now, I am settling for a little Italian fashion that will highlight  my other outfit from my recent California trip in a future post.

I am already looking ahead to the Easter holiday.  This would be a cute casual Easter outfit.  I can never decide whether to wear a dress or not on Easter Sunday.  I attend a church where the dress code is pretty casual so I have worn both pants and dresses in the past.  This year I am thinking about looking for a new Spring dress.  What do you think?  Are you dressing up for Easter Sunday this year?

Letting Go Of Mom Guilt

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.  Galatians 5:1

I don’t know about you, but I can’t tell you how many times as a Mom I have felt a lot of guilt.  I have felt guilt over not being there for my kids at one time or another.  I have felt like I wasn’t giving them enough of my time or giving them the experiences I saw other moms giving their children.  Then for me, there is the worst guilt of all – getting impatient and yelling at my kids when I shouldn’t have.

Over the recent years, I have been praying that my kids would not remember my yelling at them or when I really messed things up.  I prayed to God that they would only remember the good things about their childhood.  Yet one day when I was praying this same prayer, I felt like God was asking me why are you praying for this.  Did I hear him right?

I started thinking about it and came to this conclusion.  Maybe, I didn’t really want them to remember that Mom was perfect.  After all, that is far from true, and no one can ever be perfect.  Maybe what I should really want my children to remember is an imperfect Mom whose faith lies in a perfect Savior.  They need to see a Mom that can admit her mistakes and ask for forgiveness.  I certainly don’t want them to feel an overwhelming burden to be perfect parents themselves one day when that is just impossible.  Instead, I want them to put their trust in Christ’s saving grace.  I want my children to know the freedom from guilt we have in Christ when we turn to him in repentance.  You and I need to accept that freedom too.

Are you struggling with guilt today of not being a good enough mom?  Join me in letting go of the guilt.  If you are a Christian, then you know Christ died for your sins.  Lets accept God’s forgiveness when we repent of our mistakes as moms and accept the freedom he gives us from the guilt of our sins.  Instead, lets focus on modeling for our children what it is to be a child of God.

If you are reading this and have not committed your life to Jesus Christ, then I want you to know there is a great and everlasting freedom from feeling constantly guilty about our mistakes when we turn to Christ.  I encourage you to read the Bible and check out Christ’s offer of salvation for your life.

I am praying for each of you who finds and reads my blog today.  I would love for you to come along with me as I continue posting about fashion and sharing about faith in Jesus Christ.  I try to post three times a week so check back often for updates.

  1. I always attend my parents church for Easter rather than our family church and it is really casual. I still find myself dressing up a little because it’s Easter Sunday, and that is how I grew up. This is the cutest spring look!
