Hope you all are doing well on this Tuesday! I was so thrilled to be able to go on location, that is outside, to take these photos. I am a big wimp when it comes to the cold weather, plus I have to work when my photographer is available, that is my husband!
I am wearing another cool Spring day outfit today. I have a cute, knit, short sleeve top on that I bought on my recent trip to California. Of course for a cool day here in Indiana, I needed my taupe cardigan for warmth. Now as I’m writing this post, I realize I should have gotten a photo without the cardigan. I need to plan ahead better next time! Though, I am sure I will wear this top in another post down the road when it warms up more. The back has a cut out that is so cute and cool for Summer.
I am also wearing my taupe Clark booties. I just love these little boots as you can probably tell from many of my photos. I also have a pair in black.
My pretty purple ribbon necklace was a gift. I love that it is easily adjustable, so I can wear it longer or higher around my neckline.
Thank you for stopping by the blog today! I want to say again how much I appreciate every one of you. I also appreciate so much when you take time to leave a comment! You all have been so sweet and encouraging as I have started on this blogging journey. I want you to know that I will try to reply to comments when I can. Please understand if I don’t get to reply to all of them. Be assured that your comments don’t go unnoticed! I hope to build a community of women who can be an encouragement to each other with this blog. Feel free to comment and reply to others whether about fashion or faith!

Next, I am sharing about following God’s specific plan for your life and not trying to chase after someone else’s. Sometimes, I try to compare myself too much to others in how I look, act, or what I do. I know I shouldn’t, because each of us is special with unique talents and gifts. My hope is that each of you reading knows how special you are too! Let’s be more content with being ourselves where we are right now. In this post, I talk about comparing what we do. If you would like, you can read here about comparing how we look.
Chasing After Your Own Dream
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Today, I want to talk about our dreams and if they align with God’s plans for us.
This topic has been on my mind a lot as I move forward with blogging. In the process of trying to gain an audience for my blog, I come across what seems like hundreds of blogs on any given day. It is so easy to get caught up in what someone else is doing and try to make it my own plan. I wish I shared their talents and success. I wish I had their style, or I could write stories like they do.
When my children were younger and even now, I see other moms interact with their kids and think I wish I had that kind of interaction with my kids. Many ages ago when I was working outside the home, I know there were times when I wished I were as talented, efficient, or as good at this job as someone else was.
I end up comparing myself with others and trying to copy them too much, instead of being myself. The bad thing about these comparisons is they leave you feeling inadequate, depressed, and unfulfilled in your own life. Also, it makes us envious of what someone else seems to have.
While I think it is important to have other women in our lives who can mentor us and from whom we can learn, we should be careful not to chase their dreams. Instead, we need to chase what God has in store for us. We should not get impatient when his plan for us doesn’t progress as quickly as someone else’s or go in the same direction. We have to make sure our plans follow his plans for our lives.
Whenever I get too caught up in watching others and their success, I know it’s time to step back and listen to God more. It is time to ask him for direction in not only the big things but also in what may seem like the trivial things. It is time to start asking more for his guidance and direction instead of going my own way. We need to spend more time doing what he asks of us instead of watching or focusing too much on what he asks of others. We need to chase after his plan for us and not someone else’s.
