I’ve been talking a lot lately about finding our most true and flattering colors in clothing and makeup to help us look our best on the outside. However, if our true colors on the inside don’t look very nice, then no amount of fixing up on the outside is going to make us look all that good!
In fact, this reminds of something my husband has said to me in the past when talking about outer beauty. Before there was us and he was searching for a girlfriend or wife, he met who he thought were some beautiful women along the way until they opened their mouths to talk or speak. Then, he quickly realized they didn’t look all that beautiful to him even on the outside! Yikes! Of course, not every beautiful woman he met was like that. Lol
As much as we try to hide what our true character, mood, or feelings are on the inside, it seems they always have a way of coming out. That’s why it’s so important to spend more time working on our inside colors. Do they reflect what Christ teaches us on how to behave and treat others? Are they thoughtful, loving, caring, and kind, or are they holding in anger, bitterness, resentment, and jealousy?
Let’s invest time into improving our true inner colors. The ones that reflect poorly on our character need to be dealt with and tossed out. The ones that reflect a changed life in Christ need to be maintained and made to shine through.
Dressed in Faith
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 22-23
