I may be a little late to post about summer vacation outfits but wanted to share some items I packed for a trip to Grand Cayman with my family this summer. It’s a farewell post to summer as I start focusing on early fall outfits. And truthfully, I’m not ready for summer or warm weather to be over! Please don’t hate me for saying that if you don’t feel the same! I know it’s been a really hot summer, at least where I live. However, I will take that anytime over the bitter cold!
Also, many Caribbean Islands’ tourist seasons start up around the holidays and run through spring. If you are planning a winter trip and need something, stores still have summer clothing but are quickly changing out their inventory for fall. While inventory is low on a few things featured in today’s post, I found most of the items I’m sharing are still in stock. Yay!
We spent a full week in Grand Cayman, and I actually packed more than pictured above in case you may be wondering. What I left out were a few more pairs of shorts, some athletic clothing, an extra swimsuit or two, and a pair of beach shoes. These are older items I pulled from my wardrobe for the trip and can’t be linked. Therefore, I didn’t bother to list them here.
I also didn’t list my travel outfit which I plan to save for another post. It’s a great casual set you could wear for travel this fall or around the house.
I really ended up packing a little more than I needed. As you can imagine, I spent the most time in swimsuits and coverups. In the evening, I rotated between wearing the three dresses I packed along with shorts and a top for more casual venues.
I will link everything pictured at the bottom of the post but want to mention a few standouts first.
Grace Karin Criss Cross Halter Neck Dress – While I loved all the dresses I packed, this one is my favorite! I have a hard time finding dresses that fit well. And this fits beautifully and is so comfortable! If you are taller, it will be more midi length. If you are petite, it fits more like a maxi dress. It comes down to the top of my ankles. The halter straps do not tie around your neck either. Instead, they attach to the back of the dress. If you click the link, you can see a picture of the back. I will definitely be trying more Grace Karin dresses in the future.
Boho Flowy Mini Dress – I was influenced some other influencers to try this dress at the last minute before the trip. I was pleasantly surprised by this little dress. The material is very thin (not see thru) and lightweight, but that was perfect for the trip. It was so hot in Grand Cayman in July! I was a little concerned on how well it would hold up but have washed it twice now – so far so good. This dress comes in other color options. I think the darker colors would be great for fall if you live in a very warm climate. You could always throw a sweater or jacket over it.
Soma Short Bra Dress – This was my first time trying a Soma Bra Dress, and I wish I had tried one sooner. It’s so nice not to have to worry about finding a strapless bra to go under it! As the name implies, a light bra/padding is built into the dress. This dress is one of the few pieces here that is low in stock in some sizes. However, there is still a big selection of bra dresses on Soma’s website.
La Blanca One Piece Swimsuit – I really lucked out when it came to comfortable dressing for this trip! This one-piece swimsuit is one of the most comfortable I’ve ever owned. It’s not a tight compression type swimsuit, yet it’s still very flattering.
Blooming Jelly High Waisted Bikini Set – This inexpensive Amazon two-piece set is one of the most flattering two-piece suits I’ve ever owned. It has good coverage, and I really like the bottoms. You can adjust the waist as high as you like and the rouching really helps camouflage a bigger tummy. It comes in tons of color and design options. Plus, you just can’t beat the price if you just don’t wear a swimsuit very often.
Sarong Coverup – All of the coverups in this post are highly recommended, but this sarong was another nice surprise. I don’t know how well it will hold up through many summers of use (I hand wash it), but I do like how nice and thin this one is. It’s easy to tie, and there are many ways to wear it to cover up your suit! Plus, it comes in so many pretty colors and patterns. For only around $18, it really elevates your beach look.
Touch of Cool Flutter Sleeve Tee – This wonderful tee from Chico’s is still available in a few colors though inventory may be running low. It makes sense as this is a quality tee, and the flutter sleeves elevate it from being basic. It’s a great find I’ve been wearing all summer.
Samba Reader Sunglasses – The last time I went to the beach was not long after I started needing reading glasses. I failed to think about how I was going to do any reading on the beach with the bright sun and regular readers. We drove to that beach destination and had our beach umbrella packed. Even under the umbrella, it was tough trying to read in the bright sun without proper sunglasses. So, for this year’s trip, I found some bifocal reading sunglasses which worked so much better. I had to adjust to the bifocals a little bit, but I also carried these sunglasses without prescription since I can still see at a distance.
