Grey and White

I am posting an outfit I wore on our recent trip to California for my sister-in-law’s wedding.  These pictures were taken at the beautiful Heisler Park in Laguna Beach!

I am wearing a grey, sleeveless top.  It is gathered into a cute knot on the side at the waist.  I wear this spring and fall.  This day I paired it with my white jeans and black lace up flat shoes.  I believe my shirt came from Coldwater Creek.  My white jeans are from Gap, and these shoes are from TJ Maxx.

Shooting photos next to the ocean is definitely a challenge.  Since starting this blog, I have a new appreciation for models, photographers, and crews trying to capture a good photo.  It is a lot harder work than I ever imagined.  My husband kept saying people are going to expect your hair to be a little wind-blown.  You are at the beach! LOL

My standard outfit for the weather in California this trip was jeans, short sleeve shirt, and this soft black cardigan I got at Kohl’s.  The temperatures topped out in the mid 60’s while we were there.  It was cloudy for the entire trip except for a few brief moments when the sun peaked through the clouds, and of course as we boarded the plane for home.  Even so, we managed to get a few pretty shots of the beautiful ocean here in Laguna Beach!

It was cloudy, because we arrived right after the worst storm this area has seen in a long time.  There was bad flooding in several areas up and down the coast.  They also had near hurricane force winds.  We knew a storm was coming right as we would be flying into California.  I am not thrilled with flying so my husband was teasing me about how bad it would be landing in the storm once we got there.

We had checked, and our flight was still scheduled to leave before heading to the airport.  By the time we arrived at the airport, it had been cancelled.  I was kind of relieved as I didn’t want to be landing with the strong winds that were being predicted.  Yet, I was kind of worried about making it in time for the wedding!  This all took place on a Friday.  We were supposed to leave Indiana in the afternoon and arrive in San Diego that evening.  We would be driving for about an hour up to Orange County the next morning to be at the wedding rehearsal at 11:00 A.M.  The wedding was to take place on Sunday evening.

Fortunately, we were able to hop on a plane to Las Vegas but couldn’t get to California until very early Saturday morning.  After rearranging hotel and car rental reservations, we finally got to a hotel room very late on Friday night in Vegas.  After very few hours sleep, we woke up at 4:30 Saturday morning to catch a flight to San Diego where we rented a car and drove up to Laguna Beach.  As you can tell from my photos, this is why I have such big bags under my eyes!  We were about twenty minutes late for the rehearsal but safely made it.  My husband and I both dressed in what we were wearing to the rehearsal for the early morning plane ride.  You should have seen the looks I got walking around the Las Vegas airport all dressed up for our event so early on a Saturday morning! LOL

Here is another picture to show you just how bad the storm was.  Palm tree debris was common along the coast.  We saw several big trees uprooted just like this one.  I heard someone passing by say that this tree had been there for long time.

The wedding was beautiful, we made some new friends, got reacquainted with others, and I am so excited to share with you what I wore in an upcoming post!
