What to wear to a holiday party?! Even as a style blogger, it is still one of the hardest outfits to shop for and put together. Every event is so different depending on the dress code and wear you live. Cocktail, formal, and even casual attire can mean so many different things in different settings and regions of the country. Also, the weather where you live can play a significant role. And you want to dress according to your own stye aesthetic and comfort.
Within this yearly post, I always hope to give some helpful direction and outfit inspiration. At first glance, I didn’t feel this year’s retail offerings for dressing for a holiday party were very great. However, the more I shopped the more I pleasantly found.
This first outfit is actually something I’ve put together for a specific event I’m attending this winter. I already have a nice pair of black pants in my closet along with these suede boots and accessories. While I love to dress up, I can hardly stand to wear many dresses where I live in the winter. Unless the event calls for something really formal, you can easily dress up black pants with a dressy top or sweater, jewelry, and shoes. It’s much the same way you dress up a little black dress, but you stay warmer!
I have these black suede boots at home, and they are so comfortably warm. Velvet pants always elevate an outfit, and a sparkly silver sweater is the perfect addition. I’ve ordered this sweater in a regular size for my look. It is shorter in length at 21 1/2 inches in the regular size. So, I hope it’s not too short for me or my black pants. Typically, I consider 22 1/2 inches my perfect length in tops and sweaters, though I have some longer and shorter.
Style Tip – To find your perfect length in tops or sweaters, find a top from your closet that fits length wise just right. Measure it by laying it on a flat surface. Measure from the top of the collar to the bottom hem. Look for tops and sweaters around that length in the descriptions when shopping online.

Next, if you have a black-tie event to attend this year, this metallic dress would be a gorgeous option. I even think you could dress it down for other events too. Pictures don’t do it justice. If you click the link over to Chicco’s website, you can see this dress in action on video. It has a beautiful gold sparkle.
While you could do a monochromatic look with gold jewelry, I thought it would be fun to add pops for red for the holidays. These red earrings are a bigger size, so I added a smaller necklace. You could add a larger necklace if you love bold statement jewelry.
Another elegant yet comfortable outfit is this jeweled cardigan and satin wide leg pants. I love the comfortable style of the elastic waistband on these gorgeous red pants. I matched the accessories to the button details on the cardigan. While gold is still a very popular metallic this year, I noticed silver is equally popular as well.
My last look is much more casual but just as festive. Chocolate brown is such a big style trend this year, and I love this fun bag that compliments the corduroy jeans. You could wear regular blue jeans with this cute sweater too.

Dressed in Faith
It’s easy this time of year to solely focus our attention on storing up earthly treasures or material things. So, during this season, I challenge each of us to find ways to shift our focus from storing up earthly things to storing up heavenly things by giving to others in need and God’s kingdom.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:19-20
