Finding the right eye cream for sensitive eyes can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. And choosing the wrong formula can possibly make things like irritation so much worst! Trust me, I know. My eyes can be very sensitive, and I’ve dealt with ocular rosacea.
In fact, just several years ago I dealt with ocular rosacea for months and months. I did not think I would ever get it under control. Shortly after I did, I had a request for a blog post on gentle eye creams for sensitive eyes. However, I was at a loss for what to even recommend since I was having trouble finding any eye cream that would work for me!
Luckly, eye makeup recommendations were not as much of a problem. Go figure?! (Read the sensitive eye makeup post here.) Since that time, there are only two creams I put around my eyes that I feel comfortable using. There are probably many more I could use today – some I’ve successfully used in the past. I will talk about them below. However, I just don’t want to take too many chances and have the rosacea flare back up!
Know that this post is just addressing good eye creams for sensitive eyes – this is not medical advice! We are all so different! What might work well for one person may not work for another. Hopefully, if you are searching for something, one of the suggestions below will work for you.
A big plus is that many of these are more budget-friendly too. During the time I had so much irritation, I spent way too much on trying out numerous eye creams that ended up not working for me. Plus, expensive is not always better.
Also, most of these products are just moisturizing eye creams. Unfortunately, those of us who have really sensitive eyes may not be able to use some of the stronger ingredients that specifically fight wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. But using a good moisturizer can go a long way! After having very noticeable redness, scaly sore eyelids, and swelling from rosacea, it really changed my perspective. I just wanted my eyes to look normal again even with some fine lines or dark circles.
5 Gentle Eye Creams for Sensitive Eyes
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Cream

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Cream is infused with hyaluronic acid which is excellent for hydrating skin. After spending a lot of time and money on different products, this eye cream worked well as my ocular rosacea calmed down. So, as my eyes improved with the help of medical intervention, I stayed consistent with this eye cream. And I still use it every day on my eyes.
Besides the fact that it is moisturizing and feels good on my eyes, I noticed the ingredient list for this cream is very short. It has fewer ingredients than most things I use. For sensitive skin, less ingredients are often better! I do think using this helps diminish the appearance of my fine lines. However, it doesn’t do much for my deeper laugh lines, but I’m not sure there’s anything I could tolerate that would. This eye cream is also fragrance free. For me personally, I don’t think I tolerate strong fragrance around my eyes.
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Okay, I know this is not specifically for the eyes, but you can confidently use this whole-body moisturizer everywhere! If I could give out only one beauty award, I would give it to CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. I can use this cream on my face and around my eyes with zero irritation. Plus, it’s so hydrating and soothing! This is the only other cream I’ve used consistently around eyes, besides the Hydro Boost Eye Cream above, since getting my ocular rosacea under control.
If you are on a tight budget and need inexpensive skincare solutions, I recommend this all-in-one cream for face, around the eyes, and anywhere your skin is dry. Plus, this jar will last for ages.
Of course, CeraVe also makes specific eye creams I’ve used in the past like this Skin Renewing Eye Cream and this Eye Repair Cream. There’s also a Skin Renewing Vitamin C Eye Cream.
Clinique All About Eyes

Clinique All About Eyes Cream does work to reduce puffiness and under eye circles. It also soothes and hydrates. It is allergy tested and fragrance free. So, this eye cream is worth trying if you want to be more proactive about the appearance of your eye area but have sensitivity. Another option would be All About Eyes Cream with Vitamin C. I linked these products from Clinique’s Online store where you can make a free account for free shipping. They also run discounts and sales from time to time.
Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel

I haven’t used Cetaphill Hydrating Eye Gel but feel this is a safe recommendation for those who have sensitive eyes. It is also infused with hyaluronic acid. I do use this gentle Cetaphill cleanser to wash my face with daily including removing makeup. It’s a great cleanser for sensitive skin and also comes in a normal to dry skin version.
Organic Coconut Oil

I’ve used a good quality coconut oil before to take off my eye makeup and hydrate around my eyes without any irritation. This is a great all-natural solution that can be used anywhere dry skin is a problem. Since this is an oil, it’s best to use it at night and not during the day under your makeup.
Dressed in Faith
Is the world really getting worse? Sometimes, it can feel like it. People don’t always change, and the world really hasn’t either. There has been sin, darkness, and lawlessness since the garden of Eden. But God never changes either. He is always good, light, truth, love, faithful, and so much more. Christ came and overcame the darkness of this world. And we can live victoriously because of Him.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
